This condition is the result of overexposure to fluoride starting at an early age. It can cause white spots to form on teeth, which is considered more of an aesthetic problem than one that actually affects oral health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s believed that among individuals aged 6-49, less than one in four has fluorosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, when it comes to brushing, the best suggestion is to start using it once your child is old enough (and capable) to spit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can begin by using a pea-sized amount once they reach the age of three. Make sure they understand why it\u2019s important not to swallow toothpaste, as fluorosis can occur, but instead, they should spit it out when they\u2019re finished brushing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t be alarmed if your child\u2019s dentist suggests fluoride treatment. By taking a more proactive approach, your little one can avoid dental caries and potential restorative care in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
